Battery Container Wash Bay & New Yard

Battery Rescue commenced operating from its own premises, at 44 Barberry Way, Bibra Lake WA, in January this year. Previously we subcontracted out the transport function of our used lead acid battery service however it was decided that we needed to operate our own facility to effectively provide our newly introduced lithium battery collection service.

The move has also enabled us to further develop and demonstrate supporting technology for our all-battery chemistry collection service, including the recent addition of the container wash bay.

After each BTS Container has been emptied at our recycler Nexus Recycling, the empty containers are returned to our yard for washing. Pictured below, the wash bay and water treatment system automatically neutralises any battery acid and removes any contaminants from the water. Periodically the filters are cleaned and the resulting sludge disposed of as a hazardous waste.

This system ensures that any battery acid leaks, which contain relatively high levels of entrained lead and other heavy metals, is either recycled when the containers are unloaded at the recycler or correctly disposed of as hazardous waste. Most importantly the acid leaks are contained and are no longer allowed to escape into the environment. The system will be added to Uniseg Products*, stable of products designed to improve the efficiency and safety of handling waste batteries while reducing their impact on the environment.

In establishing our own operation, we have purchased a 7.6 Tonne truck to service our Perth metro customers and have the necessary Controlled Hazardous Waste Facility license and carrier license for lead acid, lithium and other common battery chemistries.

* Uniseg Products is a sister company of Battery Rescue.
